MonkeyThorn Meet is a video call service for conversations that should not outlive themselves. Calls are end-to-end encrypted when everyone joins with the full invite link, nothing is recorded, and nothing on the server transcribes, summarises or learns from what is said. It runs in any modern browser and, since October 2026, on iPhone and iPad.
Most video platforms have quietly become note-takers. Transcripts, summaries and meeting intelligence arrive switched on, and every one of them needs the call to exist as data somewhere after it ends. For a lawyer, a therapist, a journalist or a board, that inverts what the call is for. The value of a confidential conversation is that it leaves nothing behind except what the people in it remember.
The design keeps the server out of the room. The passphrase is generated on the host's device and travels in the part of the invite link after the #, which a browser never sends to a server, so the relay forwards frames it cannot read. What the server does keep is what routing and billing need, and paid-call durations are deleted after thirty days. Pricing follows the same restraint: hour bundles that never expire or one unlimited monthly plan, with a free thirty-minute call for anyone who wants to try it first.
How it is built
Media runs through a LiveKit selective forwarding unit, which relays each participant's encrypted frames without decoding them. The browser encrypts with AES-GCM through WebRTC Encoded Transform and the iPhone app through the LiveKit Swift SDK, with the same key derivation on both, so a call can mix the two. A guest who arrives without the key is told so and shown a not-encrypted badge for the whole call, rather than being downgraded in silence.
